Androgyny is a Good Thing- Examples: David Bowie and the Vibraphone Player of Aloha 2001-06-20::1:33 a.m. I know I did a diary entry just a few hours ago, but I just now remembered something I thought about today that I wanted to write about. Katie, her friend Betsy, Jenny, and I went to see Rainer Maria at the Blind Pig in Ann Arbor in May, and in addition to Katie's boyfriend's band, Crush Kill Destroy, another band named Aloha, opened up for them. Can I just tell you that they had the sexiest androgynous vibraphone player I have ever seen? Jenny quoted me as saying in her diary, something to the effect of, "Is it a girl? Is it a boy? It doesn't matter, because it is hot." Katie and I debated it back and forth throughout the set, I said boy, and she said girl. By the end of the set, we all knew it was definitely a man, and I was in love. During one of the intermissions, he and I made eye contact- twice- and being as dillusional as I am, I told everyone that we had shared a "moment." Ha, and you thought I couldn't get any uglier!!! |
